Grand Theft Auto VI lands on PlayStation 5 on 19 November 2026 Confirmed, and this is the single place that answers every PS5-specific question about it. Rockstar has locked the date, the platforms and the engine. Almost everything else circulating online, from the file size to the price to whether a PS5 Pro hits 60fps, is still unconfirmed. This hub keeps those two categories strictly apart so you always know what you are actually reading.
Use the live countdown and the launch-day readiness checklist above to track the run-up, then dive into any deep page below for the full, sourced answer.

What Rockstar has actually confirmed
A short, honest list of the facts that are not in doubt. These come from Rockstar's own trailers, newsroom posts and Take-Two earnings calls.
- Release date: 19 November 2026 Confirmed
- Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch Confirmed
- No PS4 / Xbox One version announced for the launch generation Confirmed
- Engine: Rockstar's RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) Confirmed
- Setting: the state of Leonida, centred on Vice City, inspired by modern Florida Confirmed
- Protagonists: Lucia and Jason, the series' first playable duo Confirmed
That is the whole confirmed picture for PS5 buyers today. Notice what is not on it: no pre-order date, no official price, no file size, no frame-rate target, no edition list. Anyone stating those as fact is repeating a leak.
Before launch: an extended look on 27 August
"Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres on Netflix on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3pm ET (9pm CEST), and goes up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site six hours later. Confirmed
Two things worth keeping straight before it airs. Rockstar has not said what the video contains, so a gameplay showcase is a fan expectation rather than an announcement. And when footage does arrive, nobody has stated which hardware it was captured on, so treat "this is what GTA 6 looks like on PS5" as unverified until Rockstar labels it. The launch itself is unchanged: 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Capture platform unconfirmed
The PS5 release date and countdown
GTA 6 releases simultaneously on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. There is no PlayStation-exclusive early-access window confirmed, and any "play three days early" bundle talk is a leak, not a promise. The countdown at the top of this page ticks to that exact date so you can see, to the second, how long is left.
For the full history of how this date moved, what an "early access" edition would realistically mean, and how preload feeds into it, see the release date page.
Pre-ordering GTA 6 on PS5

Rockstar has not announced a pre-order date. A date of 25 June 2026 is widely circulated Leak / rumour, but it is unverified. Until Rockstar actually opens pre-orders, there is no legitimate way to pre-order GTA 6 on the PlayStation Store or at any retailer. That matters, because the gap before launch is exactly when fake "pre-order now" pages and reseller scams appear.
The simple rule: if a listing lets you pay before Rockstar opens pre-orders, it is not an official Rockstar pre-order. Our pre-order guide covers PlayStation Store versus retailers, digital versus physical, and how to spot a scam.
Price and editions
Take-Two's leadership has hinted that big releases can justify a price above the old $60 standard, which is where the widely-repeated $70 to $80 figure comes from. That is a hint and an estimate, not an announced price.
- Standard edition around $70 to $80 Leak / rumour
- Deluxe and Collector's tiers with bonus packs, a steelbook, an art book and a figurine Leak / rumour
- Reported tier pricing of $69.99 / $89.99 / $149.99 Leak / rumour
Every number here is unverified until Rockstar reveals official pricing. The price page and the editions page lay out the reported tiers with a regional currency table, all clearly badged, and will switch to confirmed figures the moment Rockstar publishes them.
Performance: PS5 vs PS5 Pro

This is the most leak-heavy topic of all, so it gets the firmest handling. Rockstar has not confirmed any frame-rate or resolution mode for GTA 6 on PS5 or PS5 Pro Confirmed (that nothing is confirmed).
The popular claim that GTA 6 targets 60fps only on PS5 Pro, with PSSR-enhanced visuals, traces back to leakers and unverified reports Leak / rumour. It is plausible, given how demanding the game looks, but it is not official. Our PS5 Pro deep-dive separates what the Pro hardware could add from what anyone has actually promised, and answers the real question: is a PS5 Pro worth buying just for GTA 6?
If you are still choosing a console, the PS5 vs Xbox Series X comparison weighs hardware, your friends' platform and ecosystem rather than rumoured benchmarks.
File size, storage and preload

Reported estimates put the GTA 6 install somewhere around 150 to 200GB, plus a day-one patch Leak / rumour. On a standard PS5 with roughly 667GB usable, an install that size fills a big chunk of the drive. A safe plan is to free up at least 250GB before launch and, if you are tight on space, look at a compatible Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD.
The file size page explains the storage maths and SSD options; the preload page covers how PlayStation preload works and the typical 3-to-7-day pre-download window (so an estimated mid-November, unverified). Both feed directly into the readiness checklist above.
How this hub stays trustworthy
Three things make this site different from a generalist GTA news feed:
- PlayStation-only focus. Every page answers a PS5 question in PS5 terms, not a watered-down cross-platform summary.
- The confirmed-vs-leak system. No claim sits on this site without a status badge. Confirmed facts are sourced to Rockstar or Take-Two; everything else is labelled a leak or rumour and treated as speculation.
- Live tracking. The countdown and readiness checklist update as launch nears, and the price, editions and preload pages flip to "confirmed" within hours of Rockstar's official reveal.
GTA 6 is unreleased, so honest uncertainty is the whole point. When we do not know something, this hub says so, clearly, rather than dressing a rumour up as a fact.
